On October 22, 2014, Freedom House and the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) co-hosted a discussion on “Creative Freedom and the First Amendment” at the MPAA to mark Free Speech Week.   The discussion featured Washington Post’s film critic Ann Hornaday and culture and political blogger Alyssa Rosenberg.   As Daniel Calingaert, Executive Vice President, Freedom House, said in his introduction, “we should never take our civil liberties for granted and they should be celebrated.”

You can read more about the talk in “Film and Television Highlight the Importance of the First Amendment” on the MPAA site as well as Alyssa Rosenberg’s “For Movies from ‘Citizenfour’ to the ‘Act of Killing’ Free Speech is a Rich Subject and a Pressing Issue” in the Washington Post.
